The Faulkner St. Sun Chiefs were eliminated from the NJCAA Division I World Series in a heart-breaking 19-18 loss to Crowder College.
There was plenty of offense in the elimination game that saw a total off 44 hits and several defensive miscues as the two teams combined for nine errors. Faulkner St. struck early with three runs in the top of the first inning only to see Crowder score five runs. The Sun Chiefs responded with three runs of their own in the top of the second inning to take a 6-5 lead. Crowder tied the game in the third inning at 6-6. Both teams swapped runs over the next few innings with the score knotted at 8-8 after six innings. Faulkner St. scored a run in the top of the seventh, but Crowder exploded with seven runs for a 15-9 lead. The Sun Chiefs weren't to be out done and answered with nine runs in the top of the eigth. Crowder scored three run in the bottom of the inning sending the game into the ninth inning tied 18-18. Faulkner St. was shut out in the top of the ninth going three up three down as Crowder scored a run to take the win.
