The ACCC men's basketball tournament got off to a great start today at Shelton St. Community College,as teams battled for the right to go to the NJCAA National Tournament.
In the first game of the day, Chattahoochee Valley defeated Southern Union 62-50 behind Try Stevenson's 18 points.Alreki Brown contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Pirates, while Terrell Bryant closed out those in double figures. Derek Raymond led Southern Union inscoring with 15 points. Chattahoochee Valley will take on Jeff Davis at 1:00 P.M. Thursday.Click HERE to view the game's webcast.
Wallace St.-Hanceville defeated Faulkner St. 68-65 in the scond game of the day. Jeremy McKay paced the Lions in scoring with 17 points. McKay was joined in double digit scoring by Jacquise Moore (16), Jamalcolm Griffin (15) and Jay Murphy (11). Deandre McIntyre scored 13 for the Sun Cheifs. The third game of the day saw Lawson St. defeat Bishop St. 86-70 behind 17 points from Arthur McMillian. Players also tallying double figures for the Cougars were Antwone Jackson (16), Bryant Stozer (13), Arthur Capers (13) and Kegan Tarver (11). Jeremy Bailey was the leading scorer for Bishop St. with 13 points. Lawson St. will play Alabama Southern at 5:30 P.M. Thursday. Click HERE to view the game webcast.
The final game of the day had Gadsden St. defeating Wallace St.-Selma 72-64. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Zach Owens with 17 points. Ownes was followed in scoring by RJ Sturkie and Josh Gibson with 13 points each. Wallce St.-Selma was led in scoring by Fredrick Turner with 22 points.
