Shelton St. defeated Wallace St.-Hanceville 95-83 to capture the ACCC Division I women's basketball championship. Shelton St. entered the finals with a 35 point average margin of victory. Wallace St.-Hanceville kept the game close down only 4 at the half. Shelton St. opened a 19 point lead at the 8:37 mark in the second half. The Lady Lions rallied to cut the lead to 6 with 2:35 left in the game only to have Shelton St. gain control and go on to the final margin.
Shelton St. was led by Shaneka Bates with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Shaquita Bell also scored 19 points. Tamika Dukes led Wallace St.-Hanceville with 23 points.
Shelton St. will now head to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
