The Alabama Southern Men's Basketball Team anticipates a great upcoming 2008 - 2009 season. Returning for his second year as head coach of the Eagles, Ben Hicks is very hopeful that his team will be successful on the court. Last year, Alabama Southern fell short in the state tournament, but with the help of two All-Conference players returning, Daviel Clements and Brandon Nobles, the Eagles forsee great success.
The Eagles returning players, Daviel Clements, Brandon Nobels, Antonio Smiley, and Harold Wanton, led the Eagles to the state tournament last year. To add to this line up, transferring sophmores, Rory Miller (Tallahassee Community College, Tallahasse, FL), Terrick Phillips (Southwest Tennessee Community College, Memphis, TN), Elton Simmons (Minot State University, ND), and Kerry Weaver (Chattahoohee Valley Community College, Phenix City, AL) will contribute greatly to this year's team success. Additionally, transferring freshman, Devin Carter (Morehead State University, Morehead, KY) will be a great asset.
With the help of newly incoming freshmen, D.J. Brown (Montgomery, AL), Brenton Butler (Mobile, AL), Nick Moore (Rome, GA), Dorian Smith (Atlanta, GA), D'Andre Toler (Pensacola, FL) and Jerrel Whitehead (Ozark, AL), Alabama Southern is anticipating some great action on the court.
The Eagles will host Bevill State Fayette as their 2008 - 2009 season home opener on November 6.
