CVCC is mourning the loss of beloved softball catcher Mallory Garmon who's life was cut short on Sunday afternoon 10-17-2010 around 04:30 pm cst. Mallory went to be with God yesterday as her 2005 Chevrolet Silverado left the road and struck a tree killing her instantly on Tram Road in Elmore County, Alabama. Our heart and prayers go out to the Garmon family. Mallory's parents are Rickey and Kelle Garmon and her brother and sister in law is Rick and Heather Garmon who blessed Mallory by making her an aunt. May God be with you all. Mallory was a 2010 graduate of Edgewood Academy and was a Joe Sewell Memorial Award winner for leadership. At Edgewood she played basketball and softball and was a cheerleader. Mallory caught CVCC's eye during her junior year at the Alabama Private School Association All Star game in Troy, Alabama. After staying in touch with her all year, Coach O'Steen promissed Mallory the best two years of her life if she would give CV a chance. It was an exciting time when Mallory agreed to sign with CV. In the short time that Mallory has been with CV, she has been the positive leadership that drives every sucessful program. We can all still hear her motivating her teammates like no one else could with that Mallory Garmon phrase "no one better than you right here". This will be a season played with heavy hearts. You can not replace a Mallory Garmon! Visitation will be Thursday,10-21-2010, from 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm cst. The funeral will be Friday, 10-22-2010, at 03:00 pm cst.
