BAY MINETTE -- The Faulkner State Community College Sun Chief softball team climbed over the .500 mark recently with a pair of wins over rival Bishop State in Mobile.
Coach Paul Jones' Sun Chiefs romped past the Lady Wildcats 15-0 and 10-2 to up their overall mark to 20-19.
The two runaway victories pushed the Faulkner State divisional record to 7-1.
The 7-1 mark puts the Lady Sun Chiefs tied atop the league race with Wallace-Dothan, which currently is 6-0 in the league.
In the opening game, Faulkner State won 15-0 in a contest shortened to just six innings because of the 10-run rule.
Nicole Sweat tossed a three-hit gem at Bishop. She didn't walk anyone and struck out seven Lady Wildcats.
The Chiefs scored three runs in the first and then added five more in the second for an 8-0 lead.
Coach Jones' team then wrapped it up with a three-run fourth and two more runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Faulkner banged out 14 hits in the contest with Stephanie Beahn's three-hit game leading the way.
Sweat, Carley Jackson, Beth Readhead, Megan Sloke and Kristen Lambert had two hits apiece with Amanda Spillers adding the final base hit.
Beahn scored four runs in the game while Lambert had three runs batted in.
Readhead, Spillers and Sloke all had two RBI in the six-inning game. Amber Wilson pitched a four-hitter in a complete game performance in the nightcap.
She struck out four, didn't walk anyone and got plenty of offensive support from her Faulkner teammates.
FSCC had 13 hits in the second game with Beahn again leading the way with three hits.
Kendra Hill, Kandace Breeland and Sloke added two hits each for the Lady Chiefs.
Amber Hester, Wilson, Lambert and Readhead all had a hit apiece.
Readhead knocked in three runs while Breeland and Hill drove in two runs apiece. Lambert scored three times.
Faulkner returns to action Friday as the Lady Chiefs return home to take on Wallace-Hanceville in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at the FSCC softball stadium.
