The 2008 JDCC softball team has a balance of speed and power, along with a solid defensethat has the potential to be very dangerous. With 7 of 9 starters returning from the 2007 team, Coach Nims expects that this season will be one of the greatest seasons under her tenure. The 2008 Lady Warhawks consist of 13 sophomores who include 2 transfers; one from Southern Union CC and one from Cabrillo College, Ca. Along with an experienced sophomore class, 8 freshman are battling for a spot in the starting line-up.
On the mound, we have freshmen Kayla McKnight (Dale County HS), Ashleigh Allgood (Oxford HS), Carla Ray (Daleville HS) and sophomore Kim Carter. Behind the plate we have freshmen Jami Lott (Stanhope Elmore HS), Brittany Cahoon (Ft. Walton Beach HS) and sophomores Chasity Nicholson, Erika Davis and Amanda Pullen. Battling at first base we have freshman Sarah Vardeman (West Fl Tech) and sophomores Emily Davenport and Victoria Roach. Fighting at second base is freshman Jenny Sanders (Tate HS) and 2007 all conference sophomore Jerri Edwards. Scuffling at Shortstop are sophomores Tiffany Cayson and Susie Bradshaw. Fighting at third is freshman Brittany Cahoon and sophomore Jayla Davis. In the outfield we have freshman DeAndrea Dawson (Russell County HS) and sophomores Jodi Lisenby, Brittany Bradshaw, Kim Carter, Susie Bradshaw, Amanda Pullen, and Deanna Covin.
This group of young ladies has the desire and determination to do great things this season. We are all eager to get the 2008 season started and see where it takes us.
