On August 25, 26, and 27 Shelton State Community College Women's Soccer held its annual Soccer Classic. With 16 men's and women's teams, with 4 states represented, the tournament was a great way to kick off the NJCAA 2006 soccer season. All games featured good talent and tight matches. As for Shelton, the women's team played Meridian Community College from Meridian, Mississippi and Hinds Community College from Raymond, Mississippi winning both games by scores of4-1 and 2-1 respectively. The Lady Bucs have high hopes and aspirations for this year. Shelton finished last season with a 1-0 sudden death, overtime loss to the #1 ranked team in the nation, Darton Community College; the loss held them one game short of attending the final 8 - the national tournament - in Arizona. A new year has begun - 2-0 is a pretty good way to start it off.
