For the upcoming 2009 baseball season at Wallace Community College, we have a young team. Our leaders will be our three starting sophomores. T.J. Rivera will be returning as our starting shortstop, as we will expect him to be good defensively, we will also expect him to produce offensively as well. Chris Sasser will be returning in the outfield for the Govs, and Adam Oliver will be returning after he improved over the summer from last season. We are coming off of a strong offensive season from last year, but with most of the team being sophomores and going off to other schools, this season will be more of a rebuilding year for Wallace. However, last season we were lacking some good pitching. This year we have much more confidence in our pitching staff and have set high expectations and goals for them. We are hoping that they will carry our team and make up for the loss of our powerhouse offence we had last season. This team is loaded with young talent, so this season is going to be used to rebuild our team and get the new kids used to this level of junior college baseball. We are looking forward to being very competitive this year.
