HANCEVILLE, AL-- Wallace State defeated Chattahoochee Valley Community College 74-54 in basketball action at home Saturday afternoon.
Wallace State recovered from an early deficit to lead 31-29 at the half. The Lions outscored the Pirates 43-27 in the second half, improving their half-to-half field goal percentage from 38.9 percent to 64.7 percent.
Quentin Phillips was a perfect 5-for-5 at field goals and nailed 2-of-3 three-point attempts for 16 points in all; he added nine rebounds and six steals to the Lions? effort. Leon Butler and Leon Frazier each scored 14 points.
Ricky Darden led Chattahoochee Valley with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Wallace State will take a break for the holidays and return home on January 8 to face Enterprise-Ozark at 4 p.m.
