HANCEVILLE ? Four Wallace State Lady Lions finished with double figures Thursday night and the women utilized another balanced attack, notching an 80-59 conference victory over Gadsden State at Tom Drake Coliseum.

Elkmont graduate Bailee Robinson led the charge with 19 points, connecting on four 3-pointers and adding nine rebounds. Morgan Duncan poured in 13 points, Nisha Walker had 13 points and nine rebounds and Tacouya Allen added 12 points and nine boards.

?I was real pleased with our effort. The bottom line is we started off fast in the first half and never let off the throttle. It?s hard to stay focused in the second half sometimes with a big lead, but we handled it well,? said Wallace State coach Larry Slater. ?It was a good win, but we have plenty of room for improvement.?

The Wallace State women improved to 11-4 on the year and 1-1 in Alabama Community College Conference action.

Wallace State commanded leads of 18-8 and 29-19 in the first half and Chelsey Smith?s lay-up with 1:26 remaining in the first half extended the cushion to 40-19. The Lady Lions led 40-24 at the half.

Three-pointers from Walker and Robinson and a jumper in the lane by Walker pushed the advantage to 56-31 halfway through the second half.

Brooklyn Warren added nine points to Wallace State?s offensive attack.

For Gadsden State, Deja Woods led the way with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Gadsden State men 82, Wallace State 74

In the nightcap, Gadsden State?s men used a 15-8 surge in the game?s final 4:26 to snap Wallace State?s four-game home winning streak. The Cardinal prevailed after a wild second half which featured six lead changes and four ties.

Wallace State (13-5, 2-2 ACCC) had four players finish with double figures. Dora?s Jo-Jo Walls and Wade Collie scored 14 points apiece and Marese Phelps and Quentin Jones each contributed 11.

Gadsden State led 34-32 at the break.

Gadsden State?s Deric Rudolph scored 14 of his game-high 16 points in the second half to lead Gadsden State. John Taylor poured in 13 points and RJ Sturkie and Jeremy Green each added 12.

Both Wallace State teams travel to Snead State on Monday for their next conference tilts.
