TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? University of Alabama men?s track and field coach Harvey Glance announced today that five time Junior College All-American sprinter Antoine Fant has signed a letter of intent to join the Crimson Tide track program this January, in time for the 2008 indoor season.
?Antoine will be a great addition to this season?s track team,? Glance said. ?He should help us out in the sprints and relays and he is already running at NCAA regional qualifying times.?
Fant will transfer to the Tide from Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala., where he earned five National Junior College Athletic Association (AJCCA) All-American honors in the 110 meter hurdles (2007 outdoor), 4 x 400 relay team (indoor and outdoor 2007), 4 x 100 relay team (2007 outdoor) and 60 meter hurdles (indoor 2007)
His personal best time of 14.18 in the 110M hurdles is under the NCAA regional qualification mark of 14.30. His other personal best times are: 21.84 in the 200m, 7.58 in the 55m hurdles (indoor) and 8.08 in the 60m hurdles (indoor).
His time in the 55m hurdleswas the 84th fastest time in the world last season.
Fant is a native of Anderson, South Carolina and will enroll at the Capstone in January and be on the track for the Tide this indoor season.
