Northwest-Shoals is a comprehensive two-year community college providing educational and training programs in applied technology, allied health, and for academic transfer to four-year schools. Additionally, Northwest-Shoals is the premier workforce development center in Alabama working in partnership with area business and industry to assist in providing skills and management training for Alabama workers.
The college has two campuses, in the Shoals and in Phil Campbell. Northwest-Shoals offers a variety of programs during traditional times as well as courses taught at night, weekends and via the Internet. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits all programs. Our 5,000 students represent the college’s primary service area of Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Winston counties as well as a significant enrollment from counties adjacent to Alabama in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee.
The Patriots of Northwest-Shoals are well established as leaders among Alabama intercollegiate athletes. The college holds numerous championship titles in the Alabama Junior and Community College Conference, comprising Region XXII of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The Patriot program now fields teams in eight (8) sports. Varsity teams are sponsored in men’s basketball, baseball, golf and cross country along with women’s varsity teams in volleyball, basketball, fast-pitch softball and tennis.
