Born in Douglas, Alabama, August 26,
1913, Emmett Samuel Plunkett graduated from Douglas high School, Jacksonville
State University (BS), and Peabody College (MS).
Plunkett coaches for eleven years in area
high schools and served fifteen years as basketball coach at Snead State Junior
College.

the Alabama Junior College Coaches in 1961. He gave up coaching in 1969 due to
illness but remained at Snead as instructor and athletic until retirement in
1978.
Emmett taught” values of winning in
athletics and life” and inspired many young men to further their education and
become contributing citizens.
Emmett married the former Olive Crawley
of Scottsboro, Alabama and was an active member of Saint Paul United Methodist
Church, Civitan Club, VWF, Alabama Retired Teachers Association, and
AARP.
Emmett Samuel Plunkett died March 28,
1983.
