Craig Lane - 2000
Craig Lane was born September 26, 1959 to
Mrs. Christine Lane Jackson, a native of Quincy, Florida. Craig attended
Greensboro high School in Greensboro, Florida where he graduated in
1977.
Craig was highly sought after and
successfully recruited by Lawson State Community College in Birmingham,
Alabama. He majored in Accounting and graduated in 1980. During Craig?s two
years at Lawson State he made all AJCC Conference both years, and led his team
to the conference final his sophomore year tying a conference championship game
record of 49 points. Craig was voted unanimously to 1st team
All-American, and voted on the 1st team All-Star East vs. West JUCO
All-Star Game. Craig Lane was voted All-Tournament in each AJCC Tournament
1978-79 / 1979-80.

After graduating from Lawson State, Craig
then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 1980 through
1982. During that time, Craig majored in Business Management and excelled in
basketball. While at UAB, Craig was a starter for two years where he played
under the legendary Gene Bartow, the first Coach at UAB. Craig graduated in the
summer 1982.
He played professional basketball in
Europe for two years. After returning to Birmingham, Craig had a try-out with
the Los Angeles Lakers, but his promising career ended with a knee injury during
his try-out.
Craig is married to Teresa Lane. Since
1987, Craig has been the owner and CEO of his own business ? Expert Vending
Services. Craig donates his free time to community organizations and encourages
school-age children to obtain an education. Craig often returns to Lawson State
as a mentor to student athletes. His words of wisdom are to stay determined and
focused in order to prepare yourself for the best that life has to
offer.
